A Rare Performance by Eurythmics at the Rock Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony…..
Performers of "Missionary Man" and "Would I Lie to You?" are a British synth-pop duet. the song "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," etc.
While celebrating their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday night, ANNIE LENNOX AND Dave Stewart made a rare comeback to the stage as Eurythmics.
Lennox and Stewart grabbed the stage beginning with the 1985 song "Would I Lie to You" after walking out in identical black dress pants and sport coats that looked like gator skin.
Lennox directed a rousing performance of "Missionary Man" from 1986 that had the majority of Microsoft Theater on their feet. When they eventually started performing "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," their hit single from 1983, the crowd roared. Lennox was waving a bejewelled cane.
There Must Be an Angel (Playing With My Heart), "Thorn in My Side," and "Would I Lie to You" were some of the hit songs that the Eurythmics had success with after they first became active between 1980 and 1990. After the duet broke up in 1990, Lennox launched a lucrative solo career while Stewart found fame as a producer.
Peace, the band's new album released in 1999 as a result of Stewart and Lennox's efforts, didn't necessarily usher in a new era. Eurythmics are the only unemployed band out of the nine inducted into the Rock Hall this year. Since Peace, they haven't put out another album, and although Stewart and Lennox have stayed friends, they have only performed together on occasion, such as at a 2019 charity event.
